Tired of the Greek flash cards and endless arguments over the impeccability of Christ on your dorm room? Are you no longer finding pleasure in writing book reviews and living your life vicariously through your favorite preachers’ podcasts? Do you have a deep desire to get involved in the business of reaching the lost and broken without looking like a religious nut job that drank the Kool-Aid? Tired of the predictability of staying in the four walls of the church and doing ministry like your grandma did it, singing “here I am to worship” for 17 straight minutes?

Want to be part of something bigger, being the hands and feet of Christ in one of the most difficult places in the USA, New Jersey, where only the strong survive? It’s not just a saying, it’s true. Are you up for the challenge of giving your life away or are you going to waste your summer playing XBOX 360 in your parent’s basement… again.

Know this, if you wince when you hear cuss words, have no non Christian friends and the highlight of your calendar is the home school convention, this may not be the ministry for you.

The Youth Ministry Assistant of Faith Discovery Church will be responsible for assisting Pastor Eric Hoke in two ministries- DRIVEN Student Ministries and The Vault Youth Center. This will include but is not limited to:
• Strategizing and implementing discipleship program for teenagers in ministry.
• Creatively and actively making the ministries more present in community by array of means.
• Assisting in week long missions trip to inner city Providence RI, Vacation Bible School, Farmer’s Fair.
• Revamping aesthetics of current facilities conducive to teenage culture and appeal.

The Vault Youth Center is a new project under Faith Discovery Church that reaches out to community teens through using integrity, relationships, respect and open mindedness to lovingly and graciously represent Christ. We are heavy on the expression, excellence and encouragement found in Christ and light on shoving religion down people’s throats and looking at unsaved teenagers as “possible converts.” We aim to make Christ known in practical ways, gracious dialogues, friendship and selfless love. We are Bible believing Christians and are not ashamed of the Gospel, we do believe and practice that Jesus was not just a preacher but a friend of sinners, and we model our ministry after that.

The typical “Vault Kid” would be 12-14 years old, from a single parent home, on welfare, never have been to church other than being baptized as a baby, doesn’t know a single Bible verse, never ventured out of NJ and wants to be like Pauly D or Snooki when they grow up. DRIVEN Student Ministries is the student ministry of Faith Discovery Church and has a healthy and strong core of students. We have been blessed with faithful leadership for 5 years under 2 different full time pastors. Several of our students are sincere believers, desiring to go deeper and have a white hot passion for Jesus and are ready to go to the next level but need leadership, guidance and support throughout their turbulent teenage years. Our Sunday evening experience is atypical of most student ministries, comprised of games, prayer, worship, Bible teaching. We do hold a strong social aspect to our ministry, engaging in community with one another in love.

The typical “DRIVEN Kid” would be 14-16 years old, raised in a Christian home, went to a Christian school, attend church regularly, and born again. Some are passionate about Jesus, some are bored and forced to be a part of the ministry because their parents make them and some are somewhere in between. Are you sure you want to do this?

We are looking for an young single male with an unwavering passion for Jesus, a love and devotion to the work and Word of God and empowerment by the Holy Spirit. This person must have basic Bible knowledge, a growing relationship with God and a call into youth ministry. Preferred is someone comfortable around nonbelievers and believers alike and a motivated self starter, skills in preaching and/or worship is a plus.

The Student Ministry Assistant will essentially be a shepherd, missionary and creative director. Some weeks will 20-25 hours of work and some will be 60-70. Welcome to ministry, might as well get use to it now.

You will be staying in a host home where you will have your own bedroom and share a bathroom, kitchen and laundry. You will have access to your own office space located in The Youth Center. You will have no major expenses while serving here other than how you choose to spend your personal days. You will begin your internship in the middle of June and end the middle of August 2012. You will work 5-6 days a week and will have Mondays off for refreshment, rest and renewal.

Faith Discovery Church an Assemblies of God congregation located in Washington, NJ which is a quaint melting pot of blue collar hunters, dairy farmers, NYC commuters, outdoorsy types, artists and motorcyclists. Washington is conveniently located 45 minutes from the Lehigh Valley which is the third most populous area of Pennsylvania, 30 minutes from the Poconos which boasts great hiking, kayaking, camping and sightseeing. New York City is an hour away and Philadelphia is an hour and a half and you can be at the beach [or as we call it in Jersey, The Shore] in less than two hours. Best of all you can come home to a quiet and safe town in the mountains. So whether you’re a city person, beach person or mountain person, you can enjoy it all.
