We are seeking a Director to manage day-to-day operations of the ministry. The Director will work closely with Nate Dame (ministry founder) and will directly manage all activities including online youth ministry training programs, the website, social media, marketing, and volunteers.

Key areas of responsibility
• Schedule and lead online training/networking programs for youth pastors.

Called to Youth Ministry is an online-based ministry focused on providing training and networking for youth pastors and youth leaders. As an online ministry, we are in an exciting and unique position to help youth pastors across the country when they need it most.

Our goal is to do much more than have great articles on a cool website. We want to support, encourage, and minister to youth pastors to help them be more effective and better follow Jesus’ example of ministry.

Online training programs are at the core of what we do. Participating youth pastors are placed into small groups which work through a series of training material together. Led by a youth ministry “coach,” they meet online via group video chat each week (Skype or Google+) to share and discuss what they are learning and apply it to their own ministry context. General

Preferred

Responsibilities and Expectations
• Lead all youth ministries in such a way as to create a unified and cohesive program for youth and family ministry that is in line with the youth ministry philosophy for Still Waters United Methodist Church.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities along with adult volunteers that connect relational and transformational themes through fellowship, fun and faith development. Lead the planning and execution of special youth events, such as retreats, mission trips, recreational outings and outreach opportunities.
• Recruit, organize, motivate and support a large group of adult volunteers and parents to aid in program implementation and development.
• Develop and coach a program leadership team (youth council) consisting of both youth and adults. Coordinate and lead regular meetings for the team.
• Encourage and help integrate youth into all aspects of the church’s ministries
• Co-facilitate confirmation activities and the transition to youth ministries
• Develop relationships with the youth, their family members, and other youth not currently involved in the church (inactive church members and youth in the community).
• Communicate weekly schedule in the church office
• Actively communicate with youth, parents, congregation, and church leadership through newsletter, emails, phone, and internet on a regular basis.
• Provide appropriate referral if the need for youth counseling is identified
• Track youth activities and volunteer involvement for quarterly reports
• Help to create a budget for the joint youth ministry each year. Coordinate with staff as needed to track budget usage and accurate accounting for money collection.
• Lead by example and be visible in worship and in the life of the church.
• Coordinate with and take advantage of community and United Methodist resources for youth program development.
• Seek professional development opportunities through education and peer networks.

Reporting Structure and Hours
The Youth Ministry Director is accountable to the Staff Parish Relations Committee and under the immediate supervision of the pastor. He/she will supervise volunteer staff and Tide-pool coordinator in this ministry, attend weekly staff meetings, and connect regularly with the senior pastor. This is a full time position with expectation of involvement in worship, youth activities, and community events that are important to the youth you serve.

The Youth Minister is responsible for the coordination and implementation of powerful youth ministry that helps our children and youth to mature as disciples of Jesus Christ. The Youth Minister will offer oversight of church school. Working under the supervision of the Program Director, the Program Coordinator supervises the Peak 7 Adventures outdoor activities including whitewater rafting, rock climbing and backpacking trips. The Program Coordinator is expected to accomplish this through developing relationships with, teaching, and coordinating volunteers while ensuring strict quality and safety standards. The position requires being physically and emotionally capable of safely leading youth in outdoor activities and may require being available to respond to emergencies at any hour, night and day.

Duties and responsibilities:
• Have a thorough knowledge of all activity policies approved by the administrative team. Be responsible for implementation of the outdoor program by the entire staff, including volunteers
• Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught by the staff. Design clinics as well as staff and volunteer meetings to ensure staff awareness of the overall program goals and philosophies.
• Delegate specific duties. Supervise implementation and analyze staff effectiveness. Evaluate all participants.
• Provide documentation to fulfill insurance requirements concerning parent consent, emergency information, risk management, and permission forms. Maintain a permanent file of all participants.
• Provide proper safeguards for maintenance, inventory and protection of equipment and facilities.
• Be accountable for all equipment issued and collect the cost of any equipment lost or not returned.
• Properly mark and identify all equipment before issuing or storage. Provide for cleaning, repairing and storing of all equipment.
• Instill in each participant a respect for equipment, its care, and proper use.
• Organize meetings for program members, parents, and interested parties.
• Work with the Program Director to publish monthly activity calendar and schedule of activities for the Outdoor Programs.
• Promote the outdoor programs through recruiting participants, with special attention to at-risk youth.
• Maintain good public relations with news media, parents, and local outdoor representatives.
• Meet with and make presentations to churches, organizations and individuals to build awareness and get people involved with Peak 7 Adventures.
• Plan, organize and schedule activities (follow up, book, volunteers, etc. . .)
• Accomplish all other duties assigned by the Program Director

Minimum education and work experience:
• Commitment to Jesus Christ which reflects Christ in every aspect of his/her vocation and personal life.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
• Washington Raft Guide Certification
• Valid certification in CPR and First Aid
• Wilderness First Responder Certification (WFR)
• Substantial knowledge and experience in outdoor related skills and an understanding of procedures pertinent to outdoor programs.
• Knowledge of personal computers and software, such as Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with the Operational Team, employees, volunteers, and public.
