We are seeking a Part-Time Youth Minister who will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing all the aspects of the youth ministry at Host Church.

You must have an authentic faith in Jesus Christ and a strong passion for working with some awesome youth. Responsibilities include leading a strong team of youth leaders. Together with the youth leadership team you build a well rounded program. That includes – midweek or Sunday night youth ministry nights, effective and relevant Sunday School classes, planning of mission trips, outreach projects, youth retreats, and are willing to try new things to help reach out to the youth of our community. You will need to be a creative person with strong written and oral communication skills and be a team player committed to working with and developing volunteer leaders. Job will require 16 to 22 hours per week.

We are looking for a creative, energetic, and passionate individual with a minimum of FIVE years full time local church youth ministry experience and a proven track record. We are looking for someone who youth ministry is not just a job, but a calling . . . It’s not a position, but their passion. You must possess great communication skills, be organized, a leader of leaders, and a desire to daily grow and improve yourself. Music, video, or graphic experience is a bonus. If you have changed jobs every 12-18 months for the past five years please don’t bother to apply, we know you will be leaving here in a year. We are looking to build a long term, healthy relationship. Are you willing to see a 6th grade student through to graduation day?

This position would include ministry to 6-12 grades with very few general church responsibilities. We currently have around 100 teenagers in attendance on Wednesday nights and a solid team of leaders. We pull from six school districts in a city of 500,000. Our desire is to become a dominant force in the city’s youth culture. Our goal as a church is to expand and become a multi-site church. One vision . . . one church . . . multiple locations. The youth pastor must possess the skills to reproduce him self and lead the youth staff at other locations. This is a full time salary that also includes medical insurance for your entire family.

Pastor Dean Hawk is the founding pastor and served in the local church for 19 years as an associate pastor / youth pastor. He knows and understands what its like to be on “the other side.” He believes in maintaining a close team leadership model. He conducts weekly staff meetings and enjoys personal time with his staff families. Micro managing is not on the radar. This position would report directly to him.

Objectives:
To create and grow a Bible based youth ministry that includes spiritual formation, mentoring, developing peer relationships, and active outreach in the community. This ministry must work in harmony with existing church programs, goals and staff.

Typical examples of Work Performed:
Lead regular meetings with youth, plan and lead youth activities, enlist and equip volunteers to assist in youth ministry, mentor youth in their spiritual growth, attend worship services regularly, attend staff meetings regularly, perform music and lead the praise band for Sunday contemporary service, organize fundraising programs to help support youth activities, assist with other duties in the church or elsewhere, as requested.

Education:
A colleg degree in Christian Ministry/Youth Ministry Work or equivalent experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities:
The ideal candidate will be proficient in musical ability;both with instrument and vocals. Experience with a praise team or band presenting comtemporary Christian music is highly desirable. They wil be a creative self-starter that will develop programs and activities to attract and retain youth in an environment where they may grow spiritually. They will be willing to work in harmony with existing church staff. The Youth Pastor/Worship Leader will be under the direction of the Senior Pastor and work in cooperation with the Assistant Pastor.

Provide resources and opportunities for families to Know the love of God together, Grow in their relationship with one another and with God, and Go to share His love as a family.
