Middle School Youth Director

Mid High Youth Ministry Position for Growing Youth Program
We are the largest congregation in the Baltimore Washington United Methodist conference. We are located about 25 miles outside of Baltimore in a rapidly growing suburban community. Our youth program is growing rapidly and we are seeking a strong Christian with high energy, self-motivation and a desire to be a part of this growing ministry.
This is a key role in our youth program focusing on the middle school students. The position will begin as a full time internship with the intent to evolve into a full-time paid position in January 2012.
The role functions as an assistant to the Director of Student Ministries to develop programs for the Middle School youth. They will start under the direct guidance and coaching of the Director of Student Ministries and be expected to progress towards independent functioning at the end of the internship with general support and delegation of work priorities. They will involve students in the ministry of the church as a whole, support and participate in the church’s vision, worship services, and activities.
Essential duties of the role include:
• Build and maintain relationships with kids both churched and un-churched
• Develop and lead programs according to the vision and purpose of the youth ministry
• Recruit and train volunteer leaders to help with the vision of the middle school program
• Network with other youth workers in the community
• Provide administrative support to the Middle School Ministries
We are looking for someone who has a strong walk with God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We require someone with a passion for youth ministry and can understand and associate with today’s youth culture. This person should have the qualities to become a mentor to our middle school youth and is a self motivated self starter. A high school education is required – Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
During the internship, rooming in a finely finished basement with own walkout, living area, bathroom, and wi-fi. A stipend will be provided.
