Huron Shores Fellowship is seeking a Pastor to Children and Youth to assist our church in nurturing our children and youth spiritually, socially, and emotionally. Our expectation is that this staff person will: *equip our children and youth to make responsible decisions on their faith journey *help our children and youth to develop their understanding of Christian living, ministry, and missions *develop Christian leadership among our children and youth in accordance with their spiritual giftedness *encourage a sense of community among all ages within our church family *reach out to unchurched children and youth and their families in our community *provide leadership to our children and youth as they relate to the overall programs and ministries of our church *develop a special interest in the families of our children and youth *encourage children and youth to commit themselves to Christ as Lord and Savior, to become active and responsible church members, and to involve themselves in worship, Bible study, fellowship, and missions
Ministry Setting
Huron Shores Fellowship is ten years old. Officially, our congregation is “non-denominational,” though we have church members from a variety of Christian backgrounds. Our church has formal ministry and mission partnerships with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, United Brethren in Christ, Baptist General Conference, Mission Aviation Fellowship, Open Air Campaigners, and Byron Bible Camp (Huron, South Dakota).
From its beginning, our church has embraced the themes of grace and humility. Deeply devoted to Christ and to His call, our church enjoys a wonderful fellowship and shares together in a vital ministry to our community and our world. Our Sunday morning worship attendance averages 225. Currently our children’s and youth groups are strong – but there is potential for significant growth. We have excellent facilities, and a church family that is already deeply committed to our children and youth.
The church’s ministry to children and youth is substantial. Our goal is to find a pastor who will continue this rich tradition and help it to grow even stronger. Our church is multi-generational – and our ministry to children and youth reflects that reality. It is typical to find our young people involved with our adults in ministry, service, and fellowship. We have a significant senior adult group – and many of these senior adults are deeply committed to our young people. This is the kind of ministry that we celebrate – and the kind of ministry that we hope to foster in the future.
Our current ministry to children and youth includes a full Bible study program on Sunday mornings, a well-developed (and well-attended) Wednesday evening program, and a wide range of other activities devoted to study, growth, service, and fellowship. Summer camps, ski trips, outreach activities, and service projects are important parts of our ministry. In addition, our children and youth are involved in a multitude of church-wide activities and ministries that are not specifically focused on children and youth.
Huron Shores Fellowship is located in Alpena, Michigan. We enjoy four distinct seasons that range from spectacular summers to beautiful winters. Numerous activities are available year-round. The environment is small town and rural. We will be happy to provide you with more information about our church and community.
